Ina Garten is an acclaimed American cookery book author and Emmy Award-winning host on Food Networks current oldest show Barefoot Contessa which began in 2002 and has aired up to 2020 in 27 seasons. Ina started her career as a writer in the White House, writing the nuclear energy budget as well as policy papers. Although she initially found it interesting, she soon lost interest. She then bought the Barefoot Contessa a small speciality food store. After nearly 18 years of making the business a massive success, she sold it, and then began writing her first book. Several other books and newspaper articles were published. The Food Network television program also began and rapidly gained popularity. The company sells numerous items, from the ingredients needed for food preparation to kitchenware, storage and even cooking equipment. Ina, who is self-taught she has never attended a culinary school or in a hotel. Ina is well-known for her simple approach to cooking and effortless entertaining. Her most well-known recipes include quick and easy recipes, such as Skillet Baked Lemon Chicken, Macaroni and Cheese with Beef Bourguignon and Balsamic-Roasted Brussels Sprouts.
